Privacy Policy
Your privacy is of paramount importance to us and it is our policy to only process your personal information lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998) and fairly. This policy sets out what information we collect and store, as well as how we may use that information.
If you have any questions or concerns about your privacy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Personal details
When you place an order with Purple Cloud you will need to provide us with some basic personal information and contact details, such as name, address, telephone number and email address.
These details will be used solely for:
- Record keeping and accounting.
- Service provision - to send you information about how to use our services, or announcements such as planned maintenance work.
- Marketing and promotions - e.g. to notify you of new products or special offers. You will be able to opt-out of these non-essential marketing communications, and all such messages will include instructions on how to do this.
We will normally only contact you by email. If this method fails, or in the event of urgent contact being required, we may also attempt to contact you by telephone, fax or post.
Tracking data
In addition to personal and contact information, we may also collect data relating to your usage of our website and control panels, although much of this will be anonymous. This information will only be used to analyse usage patterns for our sites and systems in order to improve them in the future.
We may use cookies as part of this process. Cookies collect small amounts of information and are stored on your computer either for the duration of your session (e.g. to keep you logged in) or over a longer period (so that we can recognise you when you return to our site at a later time). You can use your browser's privacy settings to limit the use of these cookies.
Disclosure of information
When registering a domain name on your behalf we must pass on some of your personal details to the appropriate domain registry. These details are collected separately during the order process in order to make it clear what information is being disclosed.
Domain registries may publish some or all of these details on the publicly accessible WHOIS record for your domain name. You may also be contacted by the domain registry in relation to your domain.
Aside from this, information will only be disclosed to third parties when required by law.
Accuracy of information
We will make every effort to keep your personal information accurate and up to date. You can view and update your personal information at any time using My Purple Cloud.
Alternatively you can contact us to request a copy of all information held about you. We will then make any updates that you request.
Storage and security
We will only store your data on servers based in the UK.
We make every effort to ensure the safe storage of your information. All staff with access to your information are governed by this privacy policy.
Your responsibilities
In order to ensure confidentiality and security, it is your responsibility to ensure that you keep all account numbers, usernames and passwords relating to our service strictly confidential. You should always log out of our control panels and websites once you have finished your session.
Sale of customers
If Purple Cloud ceases to trade, is sold, or for other reasons, we may sell or transfer some or all of our customers to another service provider. Customers will have the option to terminate their accounts before this transfer if they wish.
Changes to this policy
We may vary this privacy policy from time to time. You will be notified of any changes and given the opportunity to cancel your account if you do not agree to them.
